Tom O’Hern served as Macerich’s Chief Executive Officer from 2018 through early 2024. Immediately before he was Chief Financial Officer – a role he had held since 1993 when Macerich was preparing to become a public company. His deep understanding of the evolving retail landscape, combined with demonstrable financial and strategic acumen and rich relationships across the industry, helped build and shape Macerich’s expansive national portfolio of high-performing retail properties for more than 30 years.

Prior to joining Macerich, Mr. O’Hern served as Chief Financial Officer for a number of other real estate development companies. Earlier in his career, he was a Certified Public Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1978 through 1984.

Mr. O’Hern is a member of the Nareit Advisory Board of Governors. He serves on the board of directors and is the chairman of the audit committee of Douglas Emmett, Inc. a public real estate investment trust. As well, he is a member of The USC Marshall School of Business Board of Leaders and on the Board of Trustees of the Torrance Memorial Medical Foundation.
