Macerich Company Takes Its Commitment to Children One Step Further
With Sponsorship of Celebrity Shoes Exhibit and Online Charity Auction
SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When talking about the hottest pair of shoes at the mall, Macerich shoppers will soon mention names that have nothing to do with brands. Santa Monica, CA-based Macerich Company (NYSE: MAC), one of the largest owners/operators of regional malls in the United States, announced today its participation in Celebrity Shoes for Orphans as the program's premier sponsor. The traveling exhibit, which showcases autographed shoes from world famous Hollywood stars and sports heroes, will debut at Macerich-owned Westside Pavilion in Los Angeles on June 19, and then continue on to 14 additional shopping centers through October 2, 2003.
Featuring shoes from celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt, Sarah Jessica Parker and Clint Eastwood, Celebrity Shoes for Orphans will culminate with a ten-day charity auction on eBay, The World's Online Marketplace(R). All net proceeds from the online auction will go to Shoes for Orphan Souls, which purchases and distributes new shoes to orphans in more than 25 countries includino the United States.

In addition to hosting the traveling exhibit at 15 properties, Macerich is promoting the charity auction at 52 malls in its portfolio.
