DANBURY FAIR MALL DEBUTS NEW PANORAMIC-STYLE FOOD COURT
November event planned to celebrate renovation milestones

DANBURY, Conn. - Oct. 5, 2007 - Danbury Fair Mall today celebrated the opening of a redesigned food court - bringing a new dining destination to Connecticut and New York customers.

The dining experience opened with Nathan's Famous, Sbarro, Charley's Steakery, Panda Express and Desert Moon Café joining Arby's, Cosimo's, Famous Cajun Grill, McDonald's and Subway, which opened in June 2007. A total of 11 eateries will reside in the new panoramic style food court – one more food court option will be announced at a later date. The line-up of eateries is all classic favorites that will provide a broad array of choices for customers.

“The new food court offers excellent dining options and a customer-friendly landscape for our guests,” said Maura Ruby, Senior Property Manager. “We are very pleased to provide a sophisticated experience for the market.”

The reconfigured food court is designed to improve access and visibility with a gently curved panoramic layout, enhanced storefronts and ample seating. New seating, painting, tile and light fixtures, expected to be complete by February 2008, will complete the design. In addition, the center's restrooms recently were expanded and completely refurbished and a new family friendly restroom and a nursing room were added for shoppers' convenience. The addition of a new play area for children and soft seating areas will create new, comfortable gathering spaces throughout the center which will open later this month.

“Shopping with young children can be challenging,” said Maura Ruby, Senior Property Manager for Danbury Fair Mall. “Adding the family restrooms with at-home conveniences like nursing stations and an indoor Play Area provides families a place to re-energize and attend to children's needs - all without having to leave,” she added.

In addition to the food court and unique amenities opening, the new redesigned center court will open in November 2007. The center court will complement the center's airy atmosphere, simultaneously improving navigation of the central common area. The introduction of a new water feature will ensure that this hallmark of the original design continues to remain a focal point for the center. Seating areas and enlarged pedestrian walkways will complement the new feature, creating a spacious new gathering place for shoppers. A new coffee bar will be located adjacent to the fountain. The center court area will be complete by November, 2007.

To celebrate the openings of the new play area, food court and center court, Danbury Fair Mall is hosting a “Reinventing a Classic” Weekend Celebration on Saturday, November 10th - Sunday, November 11th. The event also commemorates the opening of the new Santa Tracking holiday décor set.

On November 10th beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Lord & Taylor Court, Danbury Fair Mall invites the community to an enchanting event to celebrate the official opening of the food court and center court and the arrival of Mr. & Mrs. Claus. Santa and his elves will intrigue the crowd with a cirque du soleil like performance that includes various acrobatic elements. The show is playful, musical and bursting with energy. Entertainment components include:

  • Santa will take your breath away as he arrives by sleigh from the rafters of the mall
  • Be the first in new England to experience a winter wonderland of snow at the Santa set
  • After the arrival, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the stilt-walking elves will lead a parade to the play area for face painting and balloon art
  • All guests attending the event on November 10th will receive a complimentary CD with classic holiday music. To conclude the “Reinventing a Classic” Weekend Celebration, on November 11th, local schools, community groups and dance studios have been invited to be the first to perform on the center court stage. Mall guests are sure to be entertained by the talent of the local community.
