Macerich Announces Opening Of VITA Residences At Tysons Corner Center

-New Luxury High-Rise Apartments are the Final Element of Macerich's Mixed-Use Urban Expansion Project-

SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Macerich (NYSE:MAC) today announced the opening of VITA Tysons Corner, a new 30-story luxury apartment tower that completes the Company's mixed-use urban expansion project at Tysons Corner in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.  The first residents are now moving in to the 429-unit VITA.

Macerich's large-scale vertical densification at Tysons Corner also includes the 18-story, 300-room Hyatt Regency hotel, which opened in April, and the multiple award-winning, 22-story Tysons Tower trophy office building. The entire expansion project leverages and enhances the success of Macerich's Tysons Corner Center, one of the country's leading super-regional malls.

"As VITA opens, the final piece of our exceptional mixed-use destination is now in place," said Ed Coppola, President, Macerich. "The luxury apartment tower is well ahead of plan in terms of pre-leasing, demonstrating what a spot-on match these well-located, amenity-rich residences are for this market. With all three elements of our urban densification of Tysons Corner Center now open – Tysons Tower, the Hyatt Regency hotel and now VITA – our already unique and irreplaceable property is an even more valuable part of our portfolio."

Kettler, one of the region's top multifamily developers and operators, developed and will manage VITA at Tysons Corner.

"VITA defines what Tysons Corner can be," said Robert C. Kettler, Chairman and CEO of Kettler. "The sophisticated design of the building, the finishes and amenities have yet to be seen in the market. This is truly an urban building that embodies all of the attributes people want and expect from city living. Best location, walkability, abundant amenities and directly connected to metro - VITA has it all."

Designed by Shalom Baranes Associates to achieve LEED® Silver certification, VITA boasts a number of green features including Energy Star® appliances, eco-friendly carpeting, on-site recycling and electric vehicle charging stations. One signature amenity for VITA residents will be Earls Kitchen + Bar – an upscale casual restaurant with locations in the U.S. and Canada – set to open this fall.

Already 25% pre-leased, the luxury apartment community offers studio-style, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with key features including Italian cabinetry, quartz countertops, designer baths, high ceilings and exceptional views. The apartments' interiors were designed by one of North America's premier interior designers, Toronto-based Cecconi Simone. With ample amenities, VITA provides residents with a rooftop saltwater pool and Skylounge, an all-season outdoor terrace equipped with grills and outdoor lounge area, sports lounge, terrace overlooking the new plaza, 24-hour concierge service, bicycle storage with workroom and direct access to the metro.
